General Finishes Exterior 450 Topcoat is a durable, clear-drying protective finish formulated for vertical exterior surfaces. Its weather-resistant formulation is ideal for protecting fences, patio furniture, garage doors, entrance doors, and exterior-facing interior windows while maintaining the natural appearance of the underlying surface.

Exterior 450 features UV absorbers that help stabilize the finish during outdoor exposure, along with a built-in mildewcide designed to retard mold and mildew growth. It can be used as a clear protective coat or as an optional topcoat over General Finishes Milk Paint, making it a versatile choice for a variety of finishing projects.

Important: Exterior 450 is designed for vertical exterior surfaces and is not recommended for use as a deck finish. When applying over stain for an outdoor project, ensure that the underlying stain is also rated for exterior exposure.

Application and Performance

• Apply with a quality brush or HVLP sprayer.
• Dries to a clear satin finish in approximately 1 to 2 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.
• Do not apply when temperatures are below 60° F.
• Can be applied over most water-based and solvent-based stains.
• Always test a small, hidden area to confirm compatibility before coating the entire project.
• Lightly sand between coats using 320-grit or finer sandpaper for improved adhesion and a smooth finish.
• Cleans up conveniently with soap and water.

UV and Mildew Protection

Exterior 450 is fortified with UV absorbers to help protect and stabilize the clear finish during outdoor exposure. Its built-in mildewcide helps retard mold and mildew growth, providing additional protection for appropriate exterior applications.
