General Finishes Exterior 450 Topcoat is a clear-drying, high-performance finish designed for vertical exterior wood surfaces. Its durable formulation makes it an excellent choice for projects such as fences, patio furniture, garage doors, entrance doors, and interior windows where protection from outdoor conditions is important.

Exterior 450 can be used as a clear protective coat or as an optional topcoat over General Finishes Milk Paint. The finish is fortified with UV absorbers to help stabilize the coating and includes a built-in mildewcide to help retard mold and mildew growth.

UV and Mildew Protection

Application Instructions

• Apply with a quality brush or an HVLP sprayer.
• Apply only when temperatures are 60°F or higher.
• The finish dries to a clear appearance in approximately 1 to 2 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.
• For exterior applications, ensure that any stain underneath is also specifically rated for outdoor exposure.
• Exterior 450 can be used over most water-based and solvent-based stains.
• Always test the product in an inconspicuous area to confirm compatibility before completing the project.
• Lightly sand between coats using 320-grit or finer sandpaper.
• Clean application tools and equipment with soap and water.
