Hearing Protection

The NRR or "Noise Reduction Rating" measures the ability to block out or "attenuate" noise. This is measured in decibels (dB), so an NRR of 32 blocks out a maximum of 32 dB of noise. The NRR listed is the maximum protection that could be achieved if the product fit the wearer perfectly and is worn or inserted correctly. In a typical work setting, attenuation is half the listed NRR. For example, if the NRR is 30 the protector most likely blocks out 15 dB of noise.
