Face Frame (Western Style)

• Framed cabinets are the most common type of cabinet construction in the United States.
• They are called framed cabinets because a 1-1/2 in. lip, or face frame, surrounds the front of the cabinet box. Cabinet doors are attached to the face frame rather than directly to the cabinet box.

The advanced kinematics make cabinet doors easy to open and help achieve precise alignment with small gaps and reveals, giving cabinet designers greater flexibility.
• For fine adjustment, the Tiomos hinge system offers three-dimensional adjustment:
  • Depth adjustment (+3/-2 mm): A worm gear built into the hinge provides continuous, self-locking depth adjustment.
  • Side adjustment (±2 mm): Side-to-side adjustment is built into the hinge arm for precise door positioning.
  • Height adjustment (±2 mm): The mounting plate included in this kit provides height adjustment through a worm gear.

3/8 in. Overlay Based on Common Cup-Hole Distance

• Door overlay is determined by a combination of three factors: the cup-hole distance, the hinge type, and the height of the mounting plate.
• This kit is based on a cup-hole distance between 4 and 6 mm (5/32 in. to 15/64 in.). If your cup-hole distance falls outside this range, contact McFeely's Technical Support for assistance selecting the correct hinge and plate combination.

Door Thickness

• This kit is designed for cabinet doors up to 24 mm (approximately 15/16 in.) thick. If your doors are thicker, contact McFeely's Technical Support for help selecting the appropriate hinge components.

Single Door Kit

This Grass Tiomos kit provides the hinge and mounting components needed for a face-frame cabinet door installation with a 3/8 in. overlay. The 160-degree opening angle provides broad access to the cabinet interior, while the self-close design helps bring the door smoothly toward the closed position.

Recommended Hinge Configuration

For most cabinet doors, a combination of one soft-close hinge and one self-close hinge provides an optimal closing rate. Heavier doors should be equipped with two soft-close hinges for additional control and support.

Important Installation Information

Cup-hole distance is the measurement from the edge of the cabinet door to the closest edge of the hinge cup hole. Proper cup-hole positioning is important for achieving the specified overlay and ensuring the hinge and mounting plate combination performs as intended.
