Face Frame (Western Style) Cabinet Application

Framed cabinets are the most common cabinet construction style in the United States. They are called framed cabinets because a 1-1/2 in. wide frame or lip surrounds the front of the cabinet box. Cabinet doors are attached to this face frame rather than directly to the cabinet box.

  • Depth adjustment (+3/-2 mm): A continuous, self-locking worm gear built into the hinge provides precise depth adjustment.
  • Side adjustment (±2 mm): Side-to-side positioning is adjusted directly on the hinge arm.
  • Height adjustment (±2 mm): The plate included in this kit provides height adjustment using an integrated worm gear.

1/4 in. Overlay Based on Cup-Hole Distance

The door overlay is determined by a combination of three factors: the cup-hole distance, the type of hinge, and the height of the mounting plate. This kit is specifically configured to provide a 1/4 in. overlay for face-frame cabinet applications.

• Cup-hole distance: This kit is based on a cup-hole distance between 4 and 6 mm (5/32 in. to 15/64 in.).
• Important: If your cup-hole distance falls outside this range, please contact McFeely's Technical Support for assistance selecting the correct hinge and plate combination.

Door Thickness

• This kit is designed for cabinet doors up to 24 mm (approximately 15/16 in.) thick.
• If your cabinet doors are thicker than 24 mm, please contact McFeely's Technical Support for help selecting the appropriate hinge components.

Single Door Kit Includes

This single-door kit is designed to simplify hinge selection by combining the appropriate Grass Tiomos hinge and mounting plate components for a 1/4 in. overlay, face-frame cabinet application.

Self-Close Hinge Performance

The self-close Tiomos hinge provides smooth, controlled cabinet door closing without requiring a separate closing mechanism. For most cabinet doors, combining one soft-close hinge with one self-close hinge provides an optimal closing rate. Heavier doors should typically use two soft-close hinges.

Important Cup-Hole Information

Cup-hole distance is the measurement from the edge of the cabinet door to the closest edge of the 35 mm hinge cup hole. Proper cup-hole positioning is essential for achieving the intended overlay and ensuring compatibility with the hinge and mounting plate combination.
