CMT Carbide-Tipped Hole Saw for Soft & Hard Woods - 3-in. Diameter

The CMT Carbide-Tipped Hole Saw delivers fast, precise hole cutting across a wide range of materials. With durable tungsten carbide teeth and a 3-in. diameter, this hole saw provides a 2-1/16-in. cutting depth for demanding woodworking, remodeling, construction, and installation applications. It is designed to cut clean, accurate holes in soft and hard woods as well as chipboard, plywood, MDF, plastic, gypsum, plasterboard, tiles, brick, and other suitable building materials.

Durable Carbide-Tipped Cutting Teeth

Carbide-tipped tungsten teeth provide long cutting life and fast material removal. The teeth are designed to maintain effective cutting performance through repeated use, making this CMT hole saw a dependable choice for professional tradespeople, woodworkers, installers, and serious DIY users.

Versatile Hole Saw Performance

This 3-in. CMT hole saw is suitable for a broad range of applications and materials, including:

  • Soft and hard woods
  • Chipboard and plywood
  • MDF
  • Plastic
  • Gypsum and plasterboard
  • Tiles
  • Solid brick
  • Aerated concrete block
  • Light-weight aggregate block
  • Breeze block
  • Soft-density lime-sand stone block

Suitable masonry applications are intended for materials with a maximum hardness of 30 N/mm2.

Fast-Lock Attachment

The fast-lock attachment system allows compatible CMT hole saw sizes to be installed without tools. The quick one-click attachment makes changing hole saws convenient while helping reduce setup time between applications.

Fast, Precise Drilling

Designed for efficient drilling and precise hole placement, the CMT carbide-tipped hole saw helps produce accurate openings even when drilling at extreme angles. The carbide teeth provide aggressive cutting performance while maintaining the precision needed for installation and woodworking projects.

Precision Hole Enlargement

CMT makes it possible to enlarge an existing hole accurately by using two hole saws together. This unique setup allows the smaller hole saw to guide the larger hole saw through an existing opening, helping produce a precisely enlarged hole without requiring a separate template.

How to Enlarge an Existing Hole

  1. Load the larger hole saw by sliding it from the back of the shank until it reaches the ring stop.
  2. Load the smaller hole saw from the front of the shank until it reaches the ring stop, then click it securely into place.
  3. Insert the assembly into the drill with the larger hole saw seated against the chuck.

Important: Hole enlargement requires a minimum difference of 9 mm (23/64-in.) between the diameters of the two hole saws.

Note: If the two hole saws have different shank sizes, the stepped shank (CMT-Sh350-DB1) is required.

Hex Shank for Secure Power Transfer

The hex shank design provides maximum non-slip power transfer between the drill and hole saw assembly. This helps deliver efficient power transmission during demanding drilling applications.

Easy Plug Removal

Once the hole has been cut, the plug can be removed quickly by simply reversing the drill bit, helping speed up cleanup and preparation for the next hole.
