Hex & Hex Washer Head Wood Screws

Hex Head Screws or more commonly know as Lag Screws have a six-sided head that will accept a socket or wrench to turn the screw in to the wood. The flat underside of the head will accept a washer that will help create a larger load bearing surface than just the head like the Hex Washer Head Screw.

This head style is usually found on larger fasteners such as lag screws. The six-sided hexagon-shaped head is normally driven with a socket bit. Some hex heads have serrations on the bearing surface that help bind the head to the wood. They are often used in bunk bed and chair production. Smaller hex heads are also used by some TV cabinet (if you remember those days) manufacturers to attach the rear panel to the cabinet.
