Goodbye Conventional Lags!

SPAX PowerLags offer the largest selection of code-recognized structural wood-to-wood fasteners in the industry. Featuring SPAX patented thread technology, they require no pre-drilling and drive faster and easier than conventional lags and other structural screws.

Washer head: The washer-like head of the screw enlarges the contact surface on the workpiece, thus guaranteeing considerably higher tightening torques compared to a countersunk screw. The SPAX washer head enables better tightening of joints between pieces of wood.

The Hex-drive head of the SPAX fastener have a six-sided head

They are the industry standard for forged head fasteners and come in different Grades, coatings and materials. Check local building requirement for code on fasteners before building.

SPAX® 4CUT® point: The 4CUT® point enables fastening without pre-drilling (depending on the wood). This is achieved through its special screw tip. The arrow shape pushes through the fibers of the wood, ensuring a fast grip. This effectively prevents the material from splitting and reduces the insertion moment. For hard woods, we recommend pre-drilling even when using SPAX with 4CUT.

Deep Thread: Characterized by a reduced diameter shank resulting in a deep thread profile. A single lead thread, meaning that one revolution advances the screw one pitch. (Pitch is equal to 1 divided by the number of threads per inch. For a screw with 10 threads per in., one revolution will advance the screw 1/10 in. into the wood.)

The deep thread form provides superior resistance to pull-out. This design feature is commonly called a Lo-Root® or Production Screw.

FEATURES:

  • Raised Hex Drive provides maximum driver engagement, especially when using larger diameter/longer length parts in harder wood species.
  • SPAX HCR Coating is approved for use in treated lumber
  • Code listings ICC-ES No. ESR-1782
  • Technical evaluation report 1711-01 deck ledger application
  • Heat treated to Grade 5 Rating
  • Patented thread serrations require up to 40% less driving torque to increase installation speed while helping prevent cracking in logs
  • Built-in washer head designs eliminate the need and extra cost of a separate washer
