The Grass Tiomos 160° Soft-Close Face-Frame Hinge Kit is designed for Western-style framed cabinets with a 3/4 in. door overlay. This complete single-door kit combines the appropriate Tiomos hinge and mounting plate to simplify installation while providing smooth cabinet door operation, integrated soft-close performance, and precise three-dimensional adjustment.
Designed for Face-Frame Cabinets
Face-frame, or Western-style, cabinets are a common cabinet construction method in the United States. A face frame surrounds the front of the cabinet box, and the cabinet doors mount to this frame. This Grass Tiomos hinge and mounting plate combination is specifically configured for this type of application.
- 3/4 in. overlay: Designed for cabinet doors that overlay the face frame by 3/4 in.
- 160° opening angle: Provides wide access to the cabinet interior and makes it easier to reach stored items.

Advanced Tiomos Hinge Technology
Grass Tiomos hinges use advanced kinematics concealed within the hinge arm to provide smooth, controlled movement and precise cabinet door alignment. The hinge design makes it easier to achieve consistent gaps and reveals while providing a refined feel throughout the opening and closing cycle.
Three-Dimensional Cabinet Door Adjustment
The Tiomos system provides convenient 3D adjustment so cabinet doors can be fine-tuned after installation. Independent adjustment points allow installers to correct door position and maintain accurate reveals.
- Depth adjustment (+3/-2 mm): A continuous, self-locking worm-gear mechanism provides precise front-to-back adjustment.
- Side adjustment (±2 mm): Adjusts the door laterally for accurate side-to-side positioning and consistent gaps.
- Height adjustment (±2 mm): The included mounting plate uses an integrated worm gear for precise vertical positioning.
3/4 in. Door Overlay Configuration
This Grass Tiomos kit is configured for a 3/4 in. overlay on a face-frame cabinet. The actual overlay achieved during installation depends on the relationship between the hinge cup-hole distance, hinge geometry, and mounting plate height.
- Cup-hole distance: This configuration is based on a cup-hole distance of 4 to 6 mm (5/32 to 15/64 in.).
- If your cup-hole distance falls outside this range, contact McFeely's Technical Support to determine the appropriate hinge and mounting plate combination.
Cabinet Door Thickness
The hinge kit is designed for cabinet doors up to 24 mm thick, or approximately 15/16 in. If your doors exceed 24 mm in thickness, a different hinge configuration may be required.
Soft-Close Hinge Performance
Grass Tiomos integrates the soft-close mechanism into the hinge, helping provide controlled and quiet door closing without requiring a separate external damper. The advanced hinge kinematics also contribute to smooth door movement and easy opening.
Recommended Hinge Configuration
For many cabinet doors, using a combination of one soft-close hinge and one self-close hinge can provide a balanced closing rate. Heavier cabinet doors should use two soft-close hinges for increased closing control and smoother operation.
Understanding Cup-Hole Distance
Cup-hole distance is measured from the edge of the cabinet door to the closest edge of the 35 mm hinge cup hole. Correct cup-hole positioning is important for achieving the intended overlay and ensuring the hinge and mounting plate work together as designed.
