Face Frame (Western Style)
- Framed cabinets are the most common type of cabinet construction in the United States.
- They are called framed cabinets because of the 1-1/2 in. lip (face frame) around the front of the cabinet box. The doors are attached to the face frame rather than directly to the cabinet box.
Tiomos® Hinge Technology
Tiomos is an innovative hinge concept designed to deliver precise alignment and smooth, controlled door movement. Its advanced kinematics provide easy opening and allow for extremely small, consistent door gaps.
Kinematics Built Into Tiomos Hinges
- The complex inner workings of this high-tech hinge are hidden from view, but they work together to provide exceptional performance. The integrated kinematics make cabinet doors extremely easy to open, enable precise alignment with minimal gaps, and provide cabinet designers with new possibilities for door opening configurations.
- For precise installation and fine-tuning, the Tiomos hinge system offers three-dimensional adjustment:
- Depth adjustment: +3/-2 mm, provided by a worm gear built into the hinge. The adjustment is continuous and self-locking.
- Side adjustment: ±2 mm, located on the hinge arm.
- Height adjustment: ±2 mm, provided by the worm gear in the mounting plate included with this kit.
Achieved Overlay Based on Common Cup-Hole Distance
- Door overlay is determined by a combination of three factors: the cup-hole distance, the type of hinge, and the height of the mounting plate.
- This kit is based on a cup-hole distance between 4 and 6 mm (5/32 in. to 15/64 in.). If your cup-hole distance falls outside this range, please contact McFeely's Technical Support for assistance in selecting the correct hinge and plate combination.
Door Thickness
- This kit is designed for doors up to 24 mm (approximately 15/16 in.) thick. If your doors are thicker, please contact McFeely's Technical Support for assistance in selecting the appropriate hinge components.
Footnotes
For most cabinet doors, a combination of one Soft-Close hinge and one Self-Close hinge provides the optimal closing rate. Heavier doors should use two Soft-Close hinges.
Cup-Hole Distance: The measurement from the edge of the cabinet door to the closest edge of the cup hole.
