The Easy Wood Mini Easy Rougher is a carbide cutter woodturning tool designed to make bulk material removal faster, easier, and more controlled. Built with the same proven advantages as the larger Easy Rougher, this compact version is sized for smaller turning projects such as goblets, wine stoppers, knife handles, small bowls, and other detailed work.
The Mini Easy Rougher is designed to remain flat on the tool rest and level to the floor, creating a simple and intuitive cutting approach. Its carbide cutter can cut left, right, or straight in without requiring you to change your approach angle, making it easy to remove material efficiently while maintaining a comfortable turning position.
Built for Comfortable, Controlled Roughing
Unlike traditional roughing tools that may require specific cutting angles, bevel control, and frequent sharpening, the Easy Rougher is designed for straightforward carbide cutting. The tool requires very little physical strength or exertion, helping reduce fatigue during the roughing process. Its design also minimizes handle bouncing on irregular blanks and helps reduce the tendency of the tool to kick back or become drawn into the workpiece.
For added protection, an optional chip deflector is available to help direct projectiles away from the face and neck. The carbide cutter also eliminates the need to sharpen the cutting edge. When the cutter eventually needs replacement, the genuine EWT replacement cutter number is engraved directly on the top of the stainless steel tool bar for easy identification.

The Easy Wood Mini Easy Rougher features a one-of-a-kind grained American Maple handle with a copper ferrule for added strength and durability. The 3/8-inch by 4-inch tool bar provides a compact yet substantial platform for small-scale woodturning, while the 16-inch overall length offers useful reach and control at the lathe.
