CMT Horizontal Raised Panel Router Bit – 3-1/2 in. Dia. – 1/2 in. Shank

Create classic raised panel doors with the CMT Horizontal Raised Panel Router Bit. Designed for professional woodworking applications, this bit features precision-ground carbide cutting edges, CMT’s signature orange coating for durability, and an anti-kickback design for safer operation.

Safety tips: Use this bit between 10,000 and 12,000 RPM. For the best results and safest operation, make three to five passes when forming large profiles. This bit should be used with a router mounted in a router table and a router motor rated at least 2-1/4 HP.

Safety precautions: Always wear a dust mask and eye protection when routing. Never use damaged or worn router bits. Maintain the recommended feed rate and never force the bit through the material. When using smaller diameter bits, make initial cuts carefully and use multiple passes for improved control and finish quality.

How CMT Produces High-Quality Router Bits

  • Turning, Milling and Cutting: CMT has invested heavily in advanced manufacturing technology. Fully automated CNC machinery, operated by specially trained technicians, ensures router bit shanks and bodies are manufactured with exceptional accuracy and balance.
  • Heat-Forged Steel Bodies for Large Diameter Bits: Large diameter router bits require additional manufacturing steps. CMT heat-forges steel before machining precise bit bodies, creating a radial grain structure that improves strength, durability, and performance.
  • Advanced Brazing Technology: CMT pioneered precision brazing techniques using custom-designed computerized equipment to create a consistent bond between carbide tips and steel bodies. The silver-copper-silver brazing sandwich provides a strong, shock-absorbing connection that helps protect carbide tips during demanding cuts.
  • Specially Formulated Carbide for Specific Applications: CMT develops carbide compositions tailored to different woodworking applications. From ultra-hard carbide for demanding materials like laminates to impact-resistant carbide for large profiles, each formulation is designed for optimal performance.
  • Precision Grinding and Sharpening: Every cutting edge is finished on multi-axis CNC grinding machines. Each bevel and angle is sharpened to micron-level precision, producing router bits with razor-sharp cutting edges and long-lasting durability.
