Alumina Zirconia (Blue) Sanding / Planing Belt

These belts are perfect for heavy stock removal.

They work well for grinding of stainless steel, spring steel, titanium and other hard steels and for dimensioning of wood. They may also be used for heavy stock removal of plastic, rubber, glass and stone or concrete products.

Alumina Zirconia (AZ)

Best for: Heavy stock removal, long belt life, and high-pressure sanding/grinding.

Alumina Zirconia (AZ) combines the durability of Aluminum Oxide with the sharp, self-renewing properties of Silicon Carbide. This grain is engineered to stay sharp under pressure, making it ideal for demanding applications where speed and longevity matter.

Unlike lighter-duty abrasives, AZ requires machine pressure to fracture and expose new cutting edges. When used correctly, it delivers fast cutting and extended life. Without enough pressure, the grain can glaze over, reducing performance.

• Top Uses: Planing wood, heavy grinding of metal (including stainless and hard steels), and dimensioning work
• Best Grit Range: Coarse grits (24–60) for aggressive material removal
• Why Choose AZ: Longer life and faster cutting in high-load applications

Tip: If you're doing light sanding or hand work, consider a different grain. AZ performs best when pushed hard with a machine.

Cloth Backing

Choose the backing based on flexibility, durability, and your application.

• J Weight (Light / Flexible):
  Best for contours and detailed work where the abrasive needs to follow the shape of the workpiece.
• X Weight (Medium / General Purpose):
  A versatile backing for most sanding applications, including portable and stationary belt sanders.
• Y Weight (Heavy Duty / Polyester):
  Designed for flat surfaces, high pressure, and aggressive grinding. Excellent for heat resistance and durability.

Flex Options:

• J-Flex (JF): Extra flexibility for tight curves, mold sanding, and pump sleeves
• X-Flex (XF): Added flexibility for slack belt applications
