Diablo’s premium 5-in. 80-grit Universal 12-Hole Hook & Lock™ random orbital sanding discs are engineered for fast material removal, long sanding life, and increased productivity. Featuring a premium ceramic grain blend, these sanding discs deliver aggressive cutting performance for demanding sanding, leveling, shaping, stripping, and surface-preparation applications.
The universal 12-hole pattern provides a one-size-fits-all design that fits both 5-hole and 8-hole random orbital sanders, making disc alignment fast and convenient. The premium Hook & Lock™ backing allows discs to be repeatedly attached and removed while maintaining a secure connection during sanding.
These 80-grit ceramic sanding discs are an excellent choice when aggressive sanding and efficient stock removal are required. The premium ceramic grain blend is designed to cut quickly while maintaining a long working life, helping reduce the frequency of disc changes during demanding projects.
Clog-SHIELD™ grinding agents help minimize loading and pitch buildup, allowing the abrasive surface to continue cutting effectively. ENDURA-BOND™ technology reinforces the connection between the abrasive grain and backing for exceptional durability throughout the sanding process.
The 12-hole universal pattern is designed to fit a wide range of 5-in. random orbital sanders. Its compatibility with both 5-hole and 8-hole sanders makes these discs a convenient choice for shops and users working with multiple sanding machines. The Hook & Lock™ backing makes installation and removal quick while helping keep the disc securely attached during use.
These 80-grit ceramic discs are particularly well suited for fast leveling, shaping, extra-heavy material removal, and stripping applications.
Ceramic abrasives are engineered for demanding material-removal applications. Ceramic grain is produced through a specialized bonding process that creates a durable, porous abrasive structure capable of aggressive cutting. This makes ceramic abrasives particularly valuable for rough grinding, heavy sanding, dimensioning, and other applications where rapid stock removal is important.
For the best value and performance, ceramic abrasives are generally most beneficial during heavy-removal and dimensioning stages. As sanding progresses toward intermediate and finishing applications, other abrasive grain types may be better suited to the desired finish.
Natural abrasive grain colors can vary by grain type. Aluminum oxide (AO) may appear brown, pink, or white; silicon carbide (SC) is typically black; ceramic AZ may appear blue or blue-gray; and ceramic grain may appear white. However, color should not be used as the sole method of identifying abrasive grain.
Abrasive manufacturers can add dyes during the manufacturing process, changing the appearance of the finished product. Stearates, lubricants, and other coatings can also affect the visible grain color. Always select an abrasive based on the material being worked, the desired removal rate, grit, and sanding equipment rather than grain color alone.
