Hex Machine Nuts are used with machine Screws that cannot be run through a threaded hole to complete the connection process. Hex, Hexagon, or six-sided nuts with matching threads are used to tighten the connection with the machine threaded bolt. Machine screws and nuts are identified by their nominal thread size and are used on sizes up to ¼ in. At 1/4 in and above, sizes are specified in fractions of an in. or in.es and fractions thereafter.
Hex Nuts have a flat top and bottom bearing surface and beveled or chamfered corners. The chamfer decreases any scaring on the opposing surface as the nut is tightened.
Please make sure to match the grade of the machine screw and nut so you get the proper strength and safety of the assembly.
Zinc Plating: The silver appearance of Clear Zinc has been around for many years and remains very popular. It also provides moderate rust protection. Since this is true electroplating, the zinc coating is part of the steel's surface and is very durable. Other chemicals can be added to the process, and the coating depth can be controlled.
