Create consistent, accurately sized tenons with the CMT Tenon Cutting Router Bit. Designed to simplify mortise-and-tenon joinery, this carbide-tipped bit produces uniform tenons even when the thickness of your workpieces varies slightly. Included spacers make it easy to adjust the cutter configuration for tenons from 3/16 in. to 3/8 in. thick and up to 1-1/16 in. long.
The cutter set features four stackable, two-tooth carbide cutters separated by a selection of spacers. Its tongue-and-groove-style configuration removes material efficiently while maintaining a consistent tenon thickness. Because variations in board thickness affect the tenon's position rather than its thickness, you can achieve dependable, repeatable results with less setup and fitting work.
Whether you previously cut tenons with a dado blade, drill press, hand saw, or other methods, this CMT router bit provides a straightforward solution for producing consistent tenons directly on a router table. It is an excellent choice for furniture building, cabinetry, and other woodworking projects requiring strong, precise mortise-and-tenon joints.
Make all tenon cuts face down so any variation in the workpiece occurs on the back side. Use this router bit only in a table-mounted router with a miter gauge and backup block. Do not exceed 12,000 RPM.
