Original Gorilla Glue is the polyurethane adhesive that started it all. Known for its incredible industrial holding power and versatility, this water-activated glue expands into materials to create an exceptionally strong bond for a wide range of projects and repairs.
Original Gorilla Glue bonds to a variety of materials, making it a dependable choice for woodworking, household repairs, crafts, construction projects, and more. Its waterproof formula makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications when used according to directions.
For the best results, make sure all surfaces are clean, dust-free, and tightly fitting. When bonding shiny surfaces such as metal, glass, or certain plastics, roughen the surface to provide additional texture for the adhesive to grip.
Dampen the surface: Lightly dampen one surface with water using a damp cloth or a light spray. Do not saturate the material. When bonding dense hardwoods, lightly dampen both surfaces before applying the glue.
Apply a thin, even layer of Original Gorilla Glue to the dry surface. Do not overapply, as the polyurethane formula expands during curing. For easier application, wear gloves or spread the adhesive with a disposable brush.
Always take appropriate precautions when handling the adhesive. If glue gets on your skin, remove it with a dry cloth or paper towel while it is still tacky. If necessary, wash with soap and cold water. Avoid using alcohol or acetone to remove the adhesive from skin.
Bring the surfaces together and apply even clamping pressure across the entire bond area. If a clamp is not available, heavy objects, Gorilla Tape, or rubber bands can be used when appropriate to hold the pieces firmly together.
Clamp the project for approximately 12 hours. For best results, allow the adhesive to cure for 24 hours before putting the bonded assembly into service.
Remove wet or uncured squeeze-out with a dry cloth. Standard paint thinner may also be used according to its instructions and safety precautions. Always wear gloves when handling uncured adhesive or solvents.
Once the glue has cured, remove excess adhesive mechanically by sanding, chiseling, scraping, or picking. Cured Gorilla Glue can be removed from tools mechanically without damaging the tools.
After each use, wipe the bottle cap and nozzle clean with a dry cloth. For the 2 oz. bottle, tightly replace the lid after cleaning and store the adhesive in a cool, dry location. Properly sealing the bottle helps prevent moisture from activating the polyurethane adhesive while in storage.
Original Gorilla Glue is a versatile choice for woodworkers, DIYers, contractors, and homeowners who need a strong adhesive for demanding bonding applications. Its waterproof polyurethane formula and ability to bond multiple materials make it useful for furniture repairs, woodworking projects, household fixes, crafts, and outdoor applications.
Because Original Gorilla Glue expands as it cures, use a thin layer and provide adequate clamping pressure. Always test the adhesive on a scrap piece when working with a new material or unfamiliar application.
