No-Clog Aluminum Oxide, 9x11 Sanding Sheets
Very high quality Zinc Stearate material, added in the size coat, will outperform virtually all competitors.
These are "STEARATE" sheets. They are Aluminum Oxide, resin bonded, paper-backed for long life and tear-resistance. This material is recommended for bare wood sanding and autobody use. Applications include sanding of bare metal, primer surfacer and between coats of paint, lacquer and shellac. Also useful on sanding of solid surface countertops such as CORIAN, FOUNTAINHEAD and AVONITE.

Aluminum Oxide (AO)
AO is the most popular abrasive grain because it delivers an excellent balance of fast cutting, durability, and value. Manufactured by fusing bauxite and other minerals in an electric furnace, it forms tough, sharp, pyramidal-shaped grains that provide aggressive cutting action.
As the abrasive wears, the grain naturally fractures into finer cutting edges, producing a smoother finish while extending belt life. Many users take advantage of this by moving worn 120-grit to a finer sanding application where it performs much like a 150-grit.
Paper
Paper backings are available in different weight or thicknesses using the designations A (the lightest wt.) thru F (the heaviest weight). Light weight papers A-C are commonly used for power sanding with sheets or discs or for hand sanding. The heavier weights (D, E & F) may be seen in sheets or discs for power sanding or in the case of the E & F weights for belts. Only the E & F weight products are considered heavy enough to be belt materials. Some parameters that need to be met before considering a paper belt are:
- Work must be dry. The waterproof papers we have are all A/C weights and therefore unsuitable for belts.
- Work must be flat. Paper will not follow a contour easily and is more likely to crease, kink or tear on contoured work than cloth.
Paper can be chemically treated to be waterproof and should be marked as waterproof or with the abbreviation W/D or WP.
