There is an auto-turn-off feature after 4 minutes of non-use to save your battery when you forget, and an audible warning when the battery is low or very low. It operates within a 32-122 F range in environments with less than 80% humidity. It is auto-calibrating and runs on (1) 9V battery, which is included along with a user manual.
