Wood Glue Application

For the best results, prepare wood surfaces before applying Gorilla Wood Glue. When laminating, plane surfaces smooth and remove machine marks, tear-out, snipes, and other surface imperfections. Avoid burnishing the wood surface or leaving end snipes that could interfere with a strong bond.

Apply a generous, even layer of glue to one surface. For difficult-to-bond woods, apply glue to both surfaces and rub the pieces together to distribute the adhesive evenly. Apply enough glue to produce a fine bead of squeeze-out when the joint is properly clamped.

Coverage depends on application and surface conditions. Approximately 1 gallon of Gorilla Wood Glue covers 200 square feet, while 1 fluid ounce covers approximately 1.6 square feet.

Clamping Instructions

The appropriate clamping method and pressure depend on the type of joint, wood species, stock moisture content, room temperature, assembly time, and surface quality. Apply enough pressure to produce a fine bead of glue squeeze-out along the properly assembled joint.

Clamping Time: Allow 20-30 minutes of clamping time for applications at room temperature. The temperature should be above 55°F. Actual clamping time may vary depending on temperature, humidity, wood porosity, and other project conditions.

Full Cure Time: Allow 24 hours for the adhesive to reach its total bonding strength.

Cleaning Up Wet Glue

Remove excess wet glue with a clean, damp cloth. Make additional passes with a clean section of the cloth as needed until the glue is removed. Once glue has dried completely, sand the affected area as needed. Wash hands, skin, and damp cloths with warm water and soap, then rinse thoroughly.

Removing Dried Glue

For hardened glue, carefully shave the adhesive from the surface using a sharp putty knife, razor, or scraper. Sand the area as needed after removing the excess glue. Dried glue on hands or skin can be removed by soaking and washing with warm water and soap.

Cleaning the Bottle Tip

After closing the bottle, wipe excess glue from the tip with a clean, damp cloth. If dried glue clogs the tip, remove the cap and use a toothpick to push the dried material backward through the opening. Rinse the cap with warm water before replacing it.
