Wood Bowl Finish is a PFAS-free coating. General Finishes is committed to developing products with a focus on a cleaner and healthier environment, and future product development will be free of "Forever Chemicals."

Important: For countertops and other surfaces actively used for chopping or cutting, use General Finishes Butcher Block Oil instead. Wood Bowl Finish is intended for decorative wooden bowls and turnings rather than surfaces subjected to direct cutting.

Application Over Raw or Stained Wood

1. Work in a well-ventilated area. Always provide adequate ventilation during application and drying.
2. Stir thoroughly before use. Solids and flattening agents can settle quickly in urethane topcoats. Stir the product thoroughly to reincorporate settled material before application. Either stir and decant the amount needed immediately or continue stirring frequently throughout the application process.
3. Prepare the wood. Make sure the wood surface is clean and completely dry before applying Wood Bowl Finish.
4. Thin if desired. For easier application, the topcoat may be thinned with approximately 10% to 15% mineral spirits.
5. Apply three coats. Apply three coats for the recommended level of protection. More than three coats are not recommended, as additional coats will not improve durability.
6. Apply by hand. Apply a liberal amount of finish using a cotton cloth, natural-bristle brush, foam brush, or staining pad. Use smooth, even strokes and maintain light lap lines. Select a larger applicator for larger surfaces to help maintain a consistent application.

   After applying the finish, wipe away excess product evenly with the grain using light pressure and a clean cloth or absorbent paper towel.

7. Sand between coats. After the appropriate drying time, lightly finish-sand between coats using a 220- to 320-grit foam sanding pad. Sanding between coats helps improve surface smoothness and promotes adhesion of subsequent coats.
8. Remove sanding dust. Thoroughly remove dust before applying the next coat. Use a vacuum, compressed air, tack cloth, or a water-dampened rag to leave the surface clean and ready for additional finish.
