The deep rich tones enhance the wood grain and produce vibrant colors especially on woods like cherry, walnut and maple. They can also be used as a toner when mixed with GF water-based topcoats.
Dye stains penetrate deep into the cell structure of the wood. On hard to stain woods such as cherry and maple the deep penetration of dye stains brings out the natural characteristics of the wood grain. GF Dye Stains can be used in conjunction with pigmented stains to produce deep rich factory quality colors.
Use General Finishes Dye Stains to add color to your clear finishes. Add 1-2 ounces of General Finishes DYE STAIN per quart of water-based finish for toner. Spray or brush 1-2 coats of toner to build color. Finish with 1-2 coats of clear finish. Always test on sample piece to ensure color is correct.
All top coats (water based, shellac, lacquer, solvent based) are acceptable over General Finishes Dye Stains.
2-4 hours under normal conditions (70°F 21 'C/70% humidity)
