CMT V-Grooving Bit – Without Bearing – 1/2 in. Dia. – 1/4 in. Shank
Rout clean, sharp grooves in panels or drawer fronts, chamfer edges, or engrave beautiful lettering. For almost any beveling application, CMT V-Grooving Bits are an excellent choice. These versatile bits are designed for precision routing and jointing, including creating clean 90° cuts in plasterboard panels, while offering countless woodworking possibilities.
CMT V-Grooving Bits feature double cutting edges for smooth, accurate results. They are manufactured from super-strength Fatigue Proof® steel with carbide-tipped cutting edges and finished with CMT’s trademark orange PTFE non-stick coating for reduced friction, smoother cuts, and extended bit life.
Safety tips: Dust and chips from laminate materials can be hazardous to your health and safety. Always wear a dust mask and eye protection when routing.
Safety precautions: Never use damaged or worn bits. Always operate at the recommended feed rate without forcing the bit. Pay particular attention when making initial cuts with small diameter bits. For best results, make cuts in multiple passes when working with smaller diameter bits.
How CMT Produces High-Quality Router Bits
Turning, Milling and Cutting: CMT has made significant investments in advanced production technology. Fully automated CNC machinery operated by specially trained technicians ensures router bits and boring tools have precisely machined bodies and perfectly balanced shanks.
Heat Forged Steel Bodies for Large Diameter Bits: Some larger diameter bits require additional manufacturing steps, including heat forging the steel before precision machining. This process creates a radial grain structure that provides increased strength, durability, and resistance to demanding cutting conditions.
Brazing: CMT has pioneered advanced brazing techniques. Custom-designed computerized brazing equipment eliminates inconsistencies found in traditional hand brazing. The silver-copper-silver brazing sandwich creates a strong bond between the steel body and carbide tips while providing shock absorption to protect the carbide during demanding cuts.
Specially Formulated Carbide for Specific Applications: Different woodworking materials require different cutting characteristics. CMT develops carbide formulations specifically for each application, ranging from ultra-hard carbide for demanding materials such as laminates to tougher impact-resistant carbide for large diameter bits and heavy-duty cutting operations.
