CMT Straight Bit 23/32 in. for 3/4 in. Plywood - 1/2 in. Shank

Perfect Size for Routing Grooves or Dados for Joining Plywood!

Plywood actual thickness is slightly different from its nominal measurement. Using a 1/4 in. bit to cut a dado slot for 1/4 in. nominal plywood can create an oversized slot. This bit solves the problem by providing the exact fit needed for clean, accurate joints. Use our 15/64 in. bit for 1/4 in. plywood. No gaps.

No sloppy joints. No worries!

Safety Tips: Always wear a dust mask and eye protection when routing.

Safety Precautions: Never use damaged or worn bits. Always work at the recommended feed rate without forcing the bit. Pay particular attention when making the initial cut with a small diameter bit. For best results when working with small diameter bits, make the cut in more than one pass.

How CMT Produces High-Quality Router Bits

  • Turning, Milling and Cutting
CMT's biggest investment in recent years has been upgrading production technology. Today, all machinery at CMT is fully automated. CNC machines operated by specially trained technicians ensure that router bit shanks and bodies are accurate and perfectly balanced.
  • Heat-Forged Steel Bodies for Large Diameter Bits
No router bits are exactly the same, not even in the way they are made. Certain bits require additional manufacturing steps, such as heat forging the steel of larger diameter bits before precision machining. This process creates a radial grain orientation that provides extra strength and durability.
  • Brazing
CMT has pioneered the art of brazing. Their unique computerized brazing equipment eliminates inconsistencies found in traditional hand brazing. The silver-copper-silver brazing sandwich creates a strong bond between the steel body and carbide tips while providing a shock-absorbing effect to protect the carbide during demanding cuts.
  • Specially Formulated Carbide for Specific Applications
Woodworking requires cutting many different materials, so CMT formulates carbide tips for specific applications. Carbide compositions range from ultra-hard formulas for tough cutting jobs like laminates to impact-resistant formulas for large profile cuts.
  • Grinding and Sharpening
The final production step is completed with extreme precision using multi-axis CNC machines. Every bevel and cutting angle is ground to micron-level accuracy, producing a cutting edge that is razor sharp while remaining exceptionally durable.
