The CMT Short Series Straight Bit is designed for fast, accurate routing in hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, MDF, and composite materials. Built from CMT's exclusive Fatigue Proof® steel with premium micrograin carbide cutting edges, this bit delivers clean, smooth cuts while standing up to demanding production work. Its short cutting profile provides added rigidity for improved control and reduced vibration, making it an excellent choice for dadoes, grooves, rabbets, trimming, and general-purpose routing.
The precision-ground carbide cutters provide exceptional edge quality and efficient chip removal for smoother, more consistent cutting. CMT's signature orange PTFE non-stick coating helps reduce heat buildup while preventing resin, pitch, and other debris from adhering to the bit, resulting in longer cutting life and easier maintenance. Every bit is manufactured under strict quality standards to ensure excellent balance, concentricity, and cutting accuracy.
Dust and chips generated when routing wood and laminate materials can be hazardous. Always wear appropriate eye protection and a dust mask. Inspect the router bit before each use, never use damaged or worn cutters, and operate at the recommended feed rate without forcing the cut. When using smaller diameter bits or making deep cuts, multiple shallow passes are recommended for the best finish and longest tool life.
