Shop Tips: Making a Through Mortise

These bits are excellent for creating through mortises. Follow these steps for the best results:

• Groove the area: Use a straight router bit to groove the initial area for the through mortise.
• Bore a pilot hole: Use a drill bit to bore a hole completely through the wood at one end of the groove.
• Flip the workpiece: Turn the wood piece over to finish the cutting process from the other side.
• Flush trim the finish: Use a flush trim bit with a cutting length slightly longer than the remaining wood fillet. Follow the groove made on the opposite side using the ball bearing guide.

Safety Precautions
