Tough, versatile, and fast-cutting, CMT Flush Trim bits are designed for a wide variety of woodworking applications. These carbide-tipped bits deliver precision results when trimming laminates, shaping templates, and producing clean, professional finishes.
Available in a range of sizes, CMT Flush Trim bits are indispensable tools for both professional woodworkers and hobbyists who demand accuracy, durability, and consistent performance.
Applications and Shop Tips
CMT Flush Trim bits are excellent for creating through mortises. Start by using a straight bit to groove the mortise area, then drill a hole through the workpiece at one end of the groove. Turn the workpiece over to complete the mortise from the opposite side.
For best results, use a flush trim bit with a cutting length slightly longer than the fillet and follow the groove created on the opposite side of the workpiece using the ball bearing guide.
Safety Precautions
Never use damaged or worn router bits.
Always operate at the recommended feed rate and avoid forcing the bit.
Take extra care when making initial cuts with small-diameter bits.
For small-diameter bits, make deeper cuts gradually using multiple passes for the best results.
How CMT Produces High-Quality Router Bits
Precision Turning, Milling, and Cutting: CMT invests heavily in advanced manufacturing technology. Fully automated CNC machinery, operated by specially trained technicians, ensures router bit bodies and shanks are manufactured with exceptional accuracy and balance.
Heat-Forged Steel Bodies for Large Diameter Bits: Larger diameter bits receive additional manufacturing steps, including heat forging the steel before precision machining. This process creates a radial grain structure that improves strength, durability, and performance.
Advanced Brazing Technology: CMT’s custom-designed computerized brazing process provides a consistent, secure bond between carbide and steel. The silver-copper-silver brazing sandwich creates a shock-absorbing connection that helps protect carbide tips during demanding cuts.
Application-Specific Carbide Formulations: CMT develops carbide grades tailored to specific woodworking applications. Harder carbide formulations are used for demanding materials such as laminates, while other formulations provide increased impact resistance for larger profile cuts.
Precision Grinding and Sharpening: Every bit receives careful grinding and sharpening to achieve the cutting performance, accuracy, and finish quality expected from CMT tools.
