Shop Tips
When routing dovetails with a template, two passes are recommended for controlled material removal and smoother results. For easier routing and reduced stress on the dovetail bit, make the first pass with a straight bit before completing the joint with the dovetail bit.
Safety Tips
If the dovetail bit jams during use, stop the router and check the bit position in the collet and the cutting depth before continuing. Always use the appropriate setup and cutting depth for the workpiece and application. When using a template, do not lift the router out of the template while the bit is engaged.
