CMT 3 Flute Slot Cutter – 5/32 in. Slot – 1/2 in. Shank
The CMT 3 Flute Slot Cutter delivers clean, accurate cuts for a wide range of woodworking applications. Designed for creating slots, biscuit joints, lock rabbet joints, and more, this versatile cutter can be mounted at the end of the arbor with a countersunk bolt for undercutting applications.
Each slot cutter features three carbide-tipped cutting wings, CMT's signature orange PTFE non-stick coating, and an anti-kickback design for improved performance and safety. The included 22mm bearing provides a 1/2 in. cutting depth for consistent results.
The slot cutter, arbor, and bearing are available separately, allowing you to configure the setup that best fits your project needs.
Features:
5/32 in. slot width for biscuit joining and precision slotting applications
Three carbide-tipped cutting wings for fast, clean cuts
Anti-kickback design for safer operation
CMT orange PTFE coating reduces friction and resin buildup
22mm bearing provides a 1/2 in. depth of cut
Compatible with 1/2 in. shank routers
Safety Tips: Always wear a dust mask and eye protection when routing.
Safety Precautions: Never use damaged or worn router bits. Always operate at the recommended feed rate without forcing the bit. Take extra care when making initial cuts with small diameter bits. For the best results, make deeper cuts in multiple passes.
How CMT Produces High-Quality Router Bits
Turning, Milling and Cutting: CMT uses advanced automated CNC machinery operated by specially trained technicians to produce router bits with precise dimensions, accurate shanks, and excellent balance.
Heat Forged Steel Bodies for Large Diameter Bits: Larger diameter bits may require heat forging before machining. This process creates a radial grain structure that increases strength, durability, and performance.
Brazing: CMT's custom-designed computerized brazing process creates a strong bond between steel bodies and carbide tips. The silver-copper-silver brazing process provides shock absorption to help protect carbide edges during demanding cuts.
Specially Formulated Carbide for Specific Applications: CMT engineers carbide compositions for different woodworking needs, balancing hardness and impact resistance to deliver reliable cutting performance across a variety of materials.
Grinding and Sharpening: Precision multi-axis CNC grinding ensures each cutting edge is sharpened to exact specifications, producing router bits that deliver exceptional sharpness, accuracy, and durability.
