Made from passivated Type 305 stainless steel, these screws offer greater corrosion resistance than conventional Type 304 stainless steel. They are well suited for pressure-treated lumber as well as premium woods such as redwood and Western red cedar. Type 305 Stainless Steel Construction

Passivated Type 305 stainless steel provides enhanced corrosion resistance compared with Type 304 stainless steel. This makes these trim-head screws a practical choice for many exterior woodworking and outdoor construction applications where standard carbon steel or zinc-plated fasteners may not provide the desired level of corrosion resistance.

Type 17 Self-Drilling Auger Point

The Type 17 point features a slot or notch cut into the tip of the screw that works much like an auger or drill bit. As the screw penetrates the material, the point helps remove wood fibers and creates a path for the threads to follow. This self-drilling design can reduce the need for pre-drilling in many woodworking applications and can help minimize splitting.

The Type 17 point performs well in a variety of wood products, including hardwoods, softwoods, particleboard, and MDF. Its cutting action makes installation easier while helping the screw start cleanly in the workpiece.

Deep-Thread Design for Strong Holding Power

The deep-thread design uses a reduced-diameter shank to create a deeper thread profile. The single-lead thread advances the screw one pitch with each complete revolution, providing efficient penetration and excellent engagement with wood fibers.

This deep-thread configuration provides strong resistance to pull-out and is commonly associated with Lo-Root^® or production-style screws. It is especially useful for woodworking applications where dependable thread engagement is important.

Trim Head and Square Drive
