HCR Yellow Coated, T-10 T-Star Plus, Torx Driver Bit
These finishing trim fasteners are designed to countersink for a clean-flush and near "hidden" finish.
Materials and Coating
Cold-rolled "carbon steel" wire heat treated to grade 5 durability and coated with a yellow HCR® (High Corrosion Resistance) coating system. These products are to be used in both exterior and interior applications fastening materials such as pressure treated lumber and standard general purpose wood trim products (e.g. AWPA UC1-UC4A). SPAX® recommends stainless steel for applications including cedar and redwood substrates.
The 4CUT&trade point enables fastening without pre-drilling (depending on the wood). This is achieved through its special screw tip. The arrow shape pushes through the fibres of the wood, ensuring a fast grip. This effectively prevents the material from splitting and reduces the insertion moment. For hard woods, we recommend pre-drilling even when using SPAX with 4CUT.
Reverse thread design prevents mushrooming in composite decking material to create an even surface. As the screw is being driven in and approaches the upper "reverse" threads, they start to pull down any composite material around the screw hole into the hole and makes a clean finished look.
HCR® (High Corrosion Resistant) is a dual barrier coating system designed to extend the longevity of the SPAX® fastener when installed in treated lumber applications. The first barrier is an electrically applied substrate with a proprietary organic topcoat offering 1000 hr. salt spray performance.
