SPAX MDF Trim Head Construction Screws

8 x 1-3/4 in. Zinc, T-Star Plus, with Nibs - Qty:200

Specifically designed to prevent splitting in Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and hardwoods without pre-drilling. Also very effective for attaching lightweight, high-density polyurethane trim!

Trim Head screws are an excellent choice for deck rails, exterior/interior trim, joining cabinets, and most fine carpentry applications such as crown molding and window/door jambs. It leaves a clean look as the tiny heads disappear when countersunk.

The 4CUT point enables fastening without pre-drilling (depending on the wood). This is achieved through its special screw tip. The arrow shape pushes through the fibers of the wood, ensuring a fast grip. This effectively prevents the material from splitting and reduces the insertion moment. For hardwoods, we recommend pre-drilling even when using SPAX with 4CUT

The SPAX T-STAR plus recess offers all the advantages of the SPAX T-STAR recess (no cam-out effect, minimization of the contact force, absorption of high torques). In addition, this recess has a small depression in the screw head below the drive surfaces into which the matching SPAX T-STAR plus BIT with guide cone (or center pin) can be precisely inserted. This SPAX T-STAR plus connection ensures the optimum transmission of torque, a long service life for the SPAX T-STAR plus BITs, and a perfect fit. Even working overhead is easy, as the screw is guided much better and can no longer fall off the BIT

The silver appearance of Clear Zinc has been around for many years and remains very popular. It also provides a moderate level of rust protection. Since this is a true electroplating, the zinc coating is part of the surface of the steel and is very durable.

Deep Thread: Characterized by a reduced diameter shank resulting in a deep thread profile. A single lead thread, meaning that one revolution advances the screw one pitch. (Pitch is equal to 1 divided by the number of threads per inch.. For a screw with 10 threads per in., one revolution will advance the screw 1/1O in. into the wood.)

The deep thread form provides superior resistance to pull-out. This design feature is commonly called a Lo-Root® or Production Screw.

Features:

  • Unique "CUT Point" and patented thread serrations prevent splitting without pre-drilling
  • T-Star drive provides superior bit engagement.
  • Trim head design with cutting ribs under the head allows flush or countersunk installation
