PocketMax Screws Prevent Joint Separation!
With proper pre-drilled depth, Pocket-Max screws will not cross-thread the two pieces being joined. Cross-threading can cause the two pieces to separate, resulting in a poor joint. PocketMax screws are designed so that the unthreaded portion of the screw's shank spans between the pieces being joined.
The Type 17 point is not a thread style but can enhance the performance qualities of most thread styles used in the woodworking industry. A slot or notch is cut at the tip of the screw, which acts like an auger or drill tip. The slot carves away material, allowing it to self-drill into most types of wood. In many cases, it eliminates the need for a pre-drilled hole to prevent splitting. The Type 17 point is excellent for hardwoods, softwoods, particleboard, and especially MDF.
Developed in a high production woodworking shop, PocketMax screws combine self-drilling points, deep, sharp threads, and heat-treated hardening, which provides excellent performance in both hard and soft woods.
Square Drive Recess: This recess was invented by P.L. Robertson (founder of Robertson, Inc.) in 1908 and was the first production fastener with an internal recess.
Screws used in installing decking or for building outdoor furniture need a special coating to protect them from the elements and the treated wood itself. In 2004 ACQ-treated wood became the standard in the pressure-treated decking industry. It does not contain arsenic, unlike the old CCA-treated wood, but is very unfriendly to fasteners because copper reacts with bare metal, causing the fastener to fail prematurely. NoCoRode offers unequalled protection. It has been tested to achieve over 2000 hours of accelerated salt spray testing on ACQ (Alkaline-Copper-Quaternary)- treated lumber.
