Metal Lath Screws provide secure metal to metal fastening and strong holding power without the need to pre-drill. Great for applications requiring a wide, low-profile head. Can be used to attach metal lath to steel studs.
They feature a self-drilling tip that drills through the steel and then the tapping screw thread locks itself into the steel. Make sure you use a slower rpm. and give the self-drilling point time to cut away the steel just like a drill bit.
Self-drilling/self-tapping screws must be matched to the thickness of the material they will fasten to work properly. Unlike fasteners selected by length and diameter, these screws are specified by point size. The self-drilling point must be through the material before the self-tapping begins, so the drill point must be longer than the combined thickness of the materials being fastened. The screw will cross thread if the materials are separated when tapping begins and will cause thread stripping or drive stalling.
The silver appearance of Clear Zinc has been around for many years and remains very popular. It also provides a moderate level of rust protection. Since this is a true electroplating, the zinc coating is part of the surface of the steel and very durable.
