Aluminum Oxide (AO)
Aluminum oxide is produced by combining bauxite and other materials and firing them in an electric furnace. The resulting material is crushed and screened to achieve the desired grit size. The naturally pyramidal shape of the abrasive grain, combined with its strength and durability, makes aluminum oxide a dependable general-purpose abrasive.
As the abrasive is used, the grain gradually wears down, providing continued cutting action and progressively finer sanding. Aluminum oxide is well suited for bare wood, most metals, leather, and many other materials, making it one of the most versatile and commonly used abrasive grains.
Heavyweight F-Weight Paper
Paper abrasive backings are available in different weights, designated from A, the lightest, through F, the heaviest. F-weight paper provides a strong, durable backing for demanding power-sanding applications while maintaining the flexibility needed for disc sanding.
These heavyweight discs are particularly well suited for wood sanding applications. The tear-resistant backing provides added durability when sanding curved or contoured surfaces, while the open-coat construction helps reduce abrasive loading for consistent performance.
