Dowel screws have lag threads at both ends. Dowel screws are inserted into predrilled pilot holes of each piece. The end of the wood thread is designed as a taper that is threaded to its blunt tip.
Dowel Screws or Double Ended Screws are used where you can spin the two pieces together.
You can use a special driver that is designed to drive one end of the screw in without damaging the threads. Another way is to use a pliers in the middle of the screw and driving it in.
