Diablo's premium 6-in. 40-Grit Ultra Coarse Random Orbital Sanding Discs are designed for fast leveling, shaping, stripping, and extra-heavy material removal. Featuring a premium ceramic grain blend and industrial-grade StickFast™ PSA backing, these sanding discs deliver aggressive cutting performance, a secure bond, and extended sanding life for demanding woodworking, metalworking, and surface-preparation applications.
The premium ceramic abrasive blend is engineered for applications where rapid material removal is the priority. The 40-grit ultra-coarse surface quickly levels uneven areas, removes coatings, and shapes materials while maintaining durable cutting performance. Clog-SHIELD™ helps minimize loading and pitch buildup, allowing the abrasive to continue cutting efficiently during demanding sanding operations.
StickFast™ PSA backing provides a reliable adhesive connection between the sanding disc and compatible sanding pad. Combined with Diablo's ENDURA-BOND™ technology, the abrasive construction is designed to withstand heavy sanding and provide dependable performance throughout the life of the disc.
Fast leveling, shaping, extra-heavy material removal, stripping, and aggressive surface preparation.
Designed for use with compatible 6-in. orbital and dual-action (DA) sanders. The coarse ceramic abrasive is particularly well suited for applications requiring aggressive stock removal and dimensioning before progressing to finer grits for intermediate and finish sanding.
Ceramic abrasives are engineered for demanding grinding and sanding applications where aggressive material removal and durability are important. Ceramic grain is produced through a chemical bonding process that creates a porous, structured abrasive grain capable of maintaining effective cutting performance. Different ceramic formulations can vary in strength and performance, with higher ceramic content generally providing increased durability and cutting capability.
Ceramic abrasives are especially valuable in coarse grits where significant material removal, leveling, shaping, or dimensioning is required. For intermediate and finishing applications, other abrasive types such as aluminum oxide (AO) or silicon carbide (SC) may be better suited depending on the material and desired finish.
Natural abrasive grain colors can vary by abrasive type. Aluminum oxide (AO) may appear brown, pink, or white; silicon carbide (SC) is typically black; ceramic AZ may appear blue or blue-gray; and ceramic grain is commonly white. However, grain color should not be used as a reliable way to identify abrasive type.
Abrasive manufacturers can add dyes to the size coat during production, changing the apparent color of the finished abrasive. Stearates, lubricants, and other coatings can also affect the visible grain color. Always select an abrasive based on the application, material being sanded, desired removal rate, and sanding equipment rather than color alone.
