These screws have Traditional machine-cut threads with a tapered shank, so occasionally there are clamp marks on the shank beneath the head. Also, since the threads are cut from uniform diameter wire, threads near the head are not full depth, and do not come to a sharp point.

Brass screws provide a more aesthetically pleasing look as it offers a softer tan coloring that works well with wood. Typically, they are used when building furniture or installing doors, etc.

Stripping brass screws occurs when working with wood, so we recommend using a Tapered Drill Bit to match the shank to drill hole into the material first. The use of a pilot holes that are the same diameter as the unthreaded part of the brass screw helps avoid stripping and ensures the screw offers maximum strength and load capacity.

Brass is inherently a softer metal and as a result, you more care must be used to avoid damaging the recess and the screw. It is also beneficial to use a screwdriver that fits the head of the screw exactly.

Please remember that brass is fairly soft, and requires carefully drilled pilot holes to avoid breakage problems.
