Bolts have a big advantage over screws in many applications: joints don't depend upon threads cut into the wood for their strength. Exterior projects like decks and docks typically use lots of bolts, but require fasteners with significant corrosion resistance - often tough to find. (In almost any exterior environment, standard zinc plated bolts quickly corrode.)
- Made of corrosion resistant 18-8 stainless steel
- These fasteners conform to ASTM F593C for stainless steel bolts, hex cap screws, and studs.
Note: The nickel content of stainless can cause nuts to "gall" (seize) when tightened under load.
