How to Use the Miller Dowel System

Begin by aligning and securely clamping the wood pieces you want to join. Use the included Miller Dowel 2X drill bit to drill the required stepped pilot hole through the joint. Apply a small amount of wood glue to the ribbed sections of the Miller Dowel, then insert the dowel into the drilled hole.

The dowel is designed to extend into the second board and help self-center the joint, even when the second board has not been pre-glued. Tap the dowel into place until it is fully seated, then trim or sand the raised portion flush with the surface. The finished joint can then be sanded and finished as desired.
