Diablo's premium 5-in. 180-grit random orbital sanding discs feature a ceramic abrasive blend and StickFast™ pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing for fast material removal, dependable adhesion, and extended sanding life. Designed for demanding sanding applications, these discs help maximize productivity when leveling, shaping, stripping, and performing extra-heavy material removal.
The premium ceramic grain blend provides aggressive cutting performance and long-lasting durability, making these sanding discs an excellent choice for dimensioning and removal work. Diablo's ENDURA-BOND™ superior grain bonding system helps maintain abrasive performance throughout the life of the disc, while Clog-SHIELD™ grinding agents reduce pitch buildup and clogging for more consistent sanding.
These 180-grit ceramic sanding discs are designed for applications where efficient material removal and long abrasive life are important. The ceramic grain blend helps quickly level uneven surfaces, remove existing finishes, shape materials, and prepare surfaces for subsequent sanding steps. The PSA backing makes disc changes convenient while providing a strong bond during use.
Use Diablo 5-in. PSA sanding discs on compatible orbital and DA sanders for woodworking, metalworking, plastics, refinishing, construction, and surface preparation projects.
Ceramic abrasives are engineered for demanding sanding and grinding applications where fast cutting and durability are essential. Ceramic grain is produced through a chemical bonding process that creates a highly engineered abrasive structure. Compared with conventional aluminum oxide, ceramic abrasives are particularly well suited to applications requiring aggressive material removal and dimensioning.
Ceramic abrasives are especially valuable in coarse and medium-coarse grits where rapid stock removal is the primary objective. For intermediate and finishing applications, other abrasive grains may be better suited depending on the material and desired surface finish. Selecting the appropriate abrasive grain and grit for the application helps maximize sanding performance and value.
Natural abrasive grain colors can vary by grain type. Aluminum oxide (AO) may appear brown, pink, or white; silicon carbide (SC) is commonly black; ceramic aluminum oxide (AZ) may appear blue or blue-gray; and ceramic abrasives may appear white. However, grain color should not be used as the sole method for identifying abrasive type.
Abrasive manufacturers can add dyes during production, and coatings such as stearates and lubricants can also alter the appearance of the abrasive. Always select a sanding disc based on the material being worked, the desired removal rate, grit, abrasive construction, and the sanding equipment being used.
