The PowerHead Screw is now available in a sleek & tough black oxide coating.

Perfect for hanging cabinets plus many other uses!

The PowerHead Screws main advantage is its large, oversized flat head that won't pull through your attaching material. The oversized head has 4x the holding power than a conventional screw head. Nibs under the head will clear away material to allow the top of the head to sit flush with the surface.

The Type 17 point is not a thread style but can enhance the performance qualities of most thread styles used in the woodworking industry. A slot or notch is cut out at the point of the screw that acts like an auger or drilling tip. The slot carves away the material thus allowing it to self-drill itself into most types of wood. In many instances it can eliminate the need for a pre-drilled hold to relieve splitting. The Type 17 point is excellent for hardwoods, softwoods, particleboard and especially MDF.

Deep Thread: Characterized by a reduced diameter shank resulting in a deep thread profile. A single lead thread, meaning that one revolution advances the screw one pitch. (Pitch is equal to 1 divided by the number of threads per inch. For a screw with 10 threads per in., one revolution will advance the screw 1/1O in. into the wood.)

The deep thread form provides superior resistance to pull-out. This design feature is commonly called a Lo-Root® or Production Screw.

PowerHead Screws will fasten to MDF boards and there is no need to pre-drill. However, it is recommended to test drilling a screw into a sample piece of MDF before beginning the final project. Depending on the manufacturer of the MDF board, varying amounts of glue are used in different boards. If a large amount of glue is used in the board, there is a greater chance that the board will crack and/or develop a bump when the screw is drilled into the board. If the tested area does crack or bump, it is recommended, in this case, to pre-drill.

The black finish comes from a chemical "conversion coating" for metal where the surface is subjected to an electrochemical or chemical process leaving a coating on the metal and converting it into a protective and decorative coating. This process does add an additional level of mild corrosion resistance along with the ascetic or decorative appearance as well as minimizing the reflection of light off of the surface.

FEATURES:

  • Large Oversized 9/16" diameter heads provide 4 times the holding power of other screws.
  • Type 17 point allows for self-drilling
  • When used with FastCap's FlushMount Drill Bit (part # FCS-6050), the screw head can be hidden perfectly behind a peel-and-stick FastCap.

For seating the screwhead flush, use of the Flush Mount Drill is recommended. When counterboring with the flush mount drill, ample material thickness must remain for overall strength.
