Carriage Bolts are bolts with no drive and machine threads for use with a nut.
Carriage heads are large smooth domed head with a square protrusion under the head to fit into a square iron plate or washer. It can also be driven into the bare timber if the square section can provide enough friction to prevent the bolt from rotating. A low carbon steel for general use.
Hot dipped galvanized is a coating for very good corrosion resistance.
Torque washers are recommended for use with softwoods like pressure-treated lumber.
