The solution: A top quality 18-8 stainless steel carriage bolt instead. It won't rust, and there is no plated finish to flake off.
Note: The nickel content of stainless can cause nuts to "gall" (seize) when tightened under load. We recommend application of Markal® Anti-Seize(SKU MA-1343)
