What makes Strong Black different than Tint Base Black?

The existing black, Tint Base Black, is a warm color that creates medium-to-deep wood tones when mixed with other RTM Stains. The new black, Strong Black, is a high-strength true black that, together with Tint Gray, will allow RTM users to mix a range of grays and blacks.

We have also added 14 new color chips to the RTM System, consisting of the two new stock colors plus 12 new color-mixing formulas. You can order a free supplemental set of the new chips if you already have the original RTM Chip Box.
If you don’t have the RTM System, it is the easiest, fastest water-based color-matching stain system on the market. You can match any color on-site in minutes and save money by reducing inventory.

The system consists of 12 ready-to-use, low-VOC water-based stains plus a clear base; a chip box with 96 color formulas on two-sided color chips, plus stock color chips; and a formula book available in print format to calculate any quantity of stain. The System Includes 3 Items:

1) A set of 12 water-based stock stain colors plus a clear base.

2) Color Chip Box

Includes 96 4"x5" two-sided color chips available in maple/oak OR maple/alder. Each chip is labeled with the stain number and corresponding formula for easy reference.

3) An RTM Formula Book

An RTM Formula Book that includes all 90 formulas in digital and print format. Need a different color? You can modify the formulas to fine-tune the color match. Pick the closest color as a starting point and adjust the parts until you get a match. Once you finalize the formula, please save it to the RTM stain book for future reference.

It's Fast and Easy

1. Pick a color from the chip box. Find the formula in the book. Each custom color has a code #. For example, the #54 formula is 1 part red, 1 part black.
2. Test the color using one tablespoon of red and one tablespoon of black.
3. A second coat will deepen the color.
4. Clear coat the sample, and you are done.
