Building “Boxes” with Melamine or MDF Has Never Been this Easy!
If you assemble melamine cabinets or work with particle board or Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), these unique cabinet screws have been specially designed to make your life easier. The 5mm dia. shoulder beneath the head acts much like a steel dowel pin and locks the shank in position to minimize the possibility of board failure. This creates a remarkably strong and stiff joint that generally does not require glue. Screws require a pilot hole through both pieces of material. Simply clamp the pieces together and drill with a specialized 3-step 7.62mm/5mm/3.5mm drill bit. These 5x40 cabinet screws are for use with 1/2" materials and are ideal for constructing drawer boxes. If you are using 3/4" thick material, consider using the 7 x 50mm confirmat style cabinet connecting screws.
Note: these screws use the typical European #2 Pozi-drive recess.5 x 40 mm (approximately 1-1/2” long) is recommended for 1/2" stock. We offer specially designed screw caps to fit a hole in the drive recess and introductory kit for both 7x50 and 5x40 sizes. Caps and Intro kits sold separately.

About Me Professional
Product wise if you are looking to work with MDF or particle board these work really well. My only complaint is that they only come in 2 sizes 40mm or 80mm.40mm is a little over 1 1/2" long so if you are working with 3/4" material that does not give you enough hold. (a good general rule of thunb is if you are working with 3/4" you should be GOING INTO the wood 1.5" which would mean you would need a 2 1/4" or roughly a 57mm screw. They do make an 80mm version but cmon thats OVER 3" long and personally I believe that if you are not "dead on" with your drill you are going to run into trouble trying to keep that long a screw from running into trouble.
