Product Information

Have you ever drilled a hole for hinges or drawer slides only to find that they are off center and the screw head didn’t seat properly? It happens to the best of us. It can be avoided by using a Make-It-Snappy Self-Centering Hinge Bit Set. The 5 piece set includes one each: 5/64”, 7/64”, 9/64”, 11/64”, and 13/64” centering guides and drill bits. While holding the hinge plate in place, simply press the guide into the hinge plate mounting hole and push to begin drilling. The spring-loaded guide retracts as pressure is applied and the drill bit advances. Drill bits are replaceable when dull—simply use the Allen wrench to loosen the bit, insert a sharp drill bit and re-tighten with the Allen wrench. ¼” hex shank fits into the Make-It-Snappy drill chuck (#MS-0011). Made in USA.

Comments about Self Centering Hinge Bit Set - 5 pc:

I bought this set when faced with drilling holes for 36 separate hinges needing two different sizes of holes (over 100 holes of each size; drilled into resinous softwood and exterior plywood). The bits did the job without clogging (a problem with some similar bits that I've had) and with out dulling. I had a problem with one of the bits: after only a few holes, the guide would no longer snap back out to permit centering on the next hole. After disassembling the bit (an easy task), I found the spring permanently deformed. [...] Note that the springs are interchangeable, so even if you happen to get a weak one, you can borrow one from another bit until a replacement arrives.
