PocketMax®
McFeely's® Flat-Top Fillister Head Pocket-Hole Screws - Versatile fasteners for hardwoods or softwoods, cabinetry or construction!
Pocket-hole joinery is a popular method for building everything from fine furniture and kitchen cabinets to window frames and deck railings, but you’ve got to use the right screws for the best results!
All of our pocket-hole screws share several important features. First, a self-tapping “auger” point prevents the screw from forcing the rail and stile apart as it advances from part to part (standard screw points can raise a chip between the parts, resulting in a gaping, unprofessional joint). Second, the unthreaded portion of the screw shank is properly designed to help prevent cross threading. Third, the screw heads are large enough to prevent wood fiber crushing, and they’re flat underneath to prevent splitting. Finally, our screws are extremely strong to avoid breakage during assembly.
Before PocketMax many manufacturers used a fine thread screw for hardwoods and a coarse thread screw for soft woods. PocketMax® is a product that incorporates a thread design with an elongated cutting point that practically eliminates splitting and cracking in hardwood frames. Our beefier #8 Super-Eight™ coarse-thread screws can be used in both materials as well as MDF and particle board. When building with 2x construction lumber or pressure-treated materials, use our exclusive PocketMax® screws, which are extra-long, have an oversized head to minimize crushing in softwoods, an extended unthreaded shank necessary to avoid cross threading.
