Threaded inserts look like short, thick walled tubes that have screw threads on both the inside and outside. Inserts provide sturdy machine threads in hard and soft woods. They are an ideal solution where assembly or disassembly could lead to thread degradation over repeated threading and unthreading. They can be an inexpensive way for reinforcing threads in MDF, Plywood, and other softwoods.
