Building decks of man-made materials like Trex? or tropical hardwoods like Pau
Lope? or Ipe? Use the award-winning Eb-Ty fasteners to hold down deck boards, and
you?ll see nary a screw or nail. Our Eb-Ty clips now include stainless steel screws with
black painted heads, so the deck fastener is almost perfectly hidden! Installation is
easy. First, use a biscuit joiner to cut slots in each deck board where it crosses a joist.
Apply a thin bead of construction adhesive to the top of the joists. Next, drive a 7 x
2-1/4"L stainless steel trim-head screw through the Eb-Ty clip and decking board and
into the joist at a 45? angle, using one of the following #1 Square Driver Bits: HHS-0120
1 x 2 Ball Detent or a reduced-shank driver, such as HRS-0110 1 x 1 Wire Detent or
HRS-0120-2 1 x 1-15/16 Ball Detent. There isn?t any need to measure; the
clips automatically set the angle. Eb-Ty?s unique design locks everything together like
the tongue and groove of a hardwood floor. Original Eb-Ty fasteners work best with
dimensionally stable decking materials, such as tropical hardwoods from 3/4" to 5/4"
thick. Eb-Ty?s ?Live Cylinder? fasteners provide 1/4" spacing to accommodate the seasonal
expansion and contraction of composite lumber, such as Trex. Eb-Ty?s ?BIG? is
designed for use with 2x4s and 2x6s, so it?s 5/8"H, provides a 1/4" gap between boards
and penetrates deeper into the decking to accommodate for the inevitable shrinking
and swelling of pressure-treated decking. TS Eb-Tys work with composite decking,
whether it?s solid or pre-grooved, and provide 3/16" board spacing for seasonal expansion
and contraction. Each pack is supplied with equal number of clips and 7 x 2-1/2
stainless steel screws - enough to complete 100 sq. ft. of decking (assuming 6" boards on 16" centers.
